The Necklace from Heaven
By, Gina L
I opened my eyes. I was lying on the cold concrete floor. Many people were passing by, butthere was no one that cared about me. I stood up and started to walk around. I felt lonely and alone. I tried to talk with someone. I asked but no one answered. I couldn’t remember anything. The only thing that I could remember was
my name, Abel. I walked down the street. I saw a mirror that was in front of a shop. I could see many people in the mirror, but I could not see myself. I was shocked and panicked. At that time, an approximately 6-year-old was coming. She passed through my body, I could not feel anything. Then I realized I was dead.
I was crying on a bench. A girl with short blond hair who was wearing a high school uniform came to me. She gave me a candy, so I glanced at her. She was looking
down at me.
“Don’t cry,” she said.
I was very surprised that she could see me; I got absent-minded for a while. I was very excited that there was someone who could see me.
“What’s your name?” I asked.
“I’m Joy, “she replied. “ “Then what’s your name?”
“I’m Abel,” I answered with excitement.
At that time, I saw her necklace with blue jewelry hanging on a silver chain. I had a dim memory of it, but I could not remember it.
“What are you looking for?” She asked me with curious eyes.
“Where did you get that necklace?” I asked.
“I found it on the street,” she said. “I think someone lost it, but why are you asking me this?”
“Nothing,” I replied. And I had a deep thought. I tried to remember about the necklace but I couldn’t remember it. “Play with me!”
Joy stared at me strangely. And she went away. I started to follow her. She went into a high school. She was talking with her friends, and went to the cafeteria Suddenly she turned back and saw me.
“What are you doing here?” she shouted at me. “How did you enter our school?” She started to ask me hundreds of questions in a fast and sharp voice.
“I am a ghost. Nobody can see me except you,” I said. She was looking at me like a mad
person. “It’s true. If you don’t believe, you can ask your friends or just look in the mirror.”
Joy turned her body to a mirror which was behind her. In the mirror, we could only see Joy and many people behind her. She was shocked and ran away. And I went out of the school.
I was waiting outside of the school. Joy went out with her friends. I followed her. Suddenly she came to me and pulled my arms and ran. While she was running, she
dropped something on the ground. Suddenly she stopped and she was looking around.
“Abel, Abel, Abel!” Joy shouted out. “Where are you?”” Where did you go?” I was very surprised because I was standing next to her. I shouted her name many times but she did not notice it.
When Joy was going back to her house, I followed her; she found the necklace that she dropped when she was running. When she picked up her necklace, she could see the Abel. At that time, both of us noticed that necklace made Joy able to see Abel. Joy threw her necklace on the ground and ran away. I was very sad; I stood next to the necklace and started to cry. One hour later, a girl ran to him, it was Joy. She picked up the necklace.
“Sorry, Abel,” Joy said. “Would you be my friend?”
When I heard this sentence, I was so happy. I was very excited and thanked her.
“Sure, of course, I want to be your friend!” I shouted out loud. Joy was smiling at me and I smiled at her.
I went to Joy’s house with Joy. There were Joy’s parents and a younger brother that looked the same as Joy. They were very good and kind. Joy bought me a notebook and a pen, and I started to keep a diary every day. And I lived in Joy’s house for a year. Joy and I became closer every day, and we were best friends.
One day, Joy left her necklace at home and went to school. I looked at it and picked it up. When I touched the necklace, I had a painful headache. Then, I got all of my memories back.
I died in a car accident; I was wearing a necklace that my mother had given me. I dropped my necklace when the car accident happened. And Joy found it, so she could see me.
After few hours, Joy came back from the school. She could not see me because she was not wearing the necklace. She wore the necklace, but she still could not see me. Joy and I were both shocked and panicked. Joy felt I was next to her, and she started to cry. I noticed that the time had come for me to go back to my place. Suddenly I was floating on the air and a pair of wings appeared. I was going to heaven.
“Joy, don’t cry. I will always be with you,” I shouted out.
Now I am living with my mother in heaven. And I always watch over Joy. Now, she has a husband called Alan, and she is living a happy life.
“Joy I will always watch over you,” I whispered.
