Day of kindness - Nikita Raevskiy
From now on January 23th could officially be called the day of kindness, and you got to believe me on this, okay? There is just no way, it could not be called “The Kindness day”. Believe me I got a whole bunch of amazing evidence and facts why it should be called “The Day of Kindness”. Now you could wonder why I am saying all this crazy staff… Well then, for those of you who are a bit unsure of my words, here is the story of what happened on this unbelievable, ridiculous Saturday.
First as every normal and laborious man of our mad society I woke up at 9:30 am. Pay attention to the word laborious, yes it is there on purpose. Last week was a hard week, we had plenty of tests. And it is all because of our dear and the loveliest teacher Mrs. Hussein. If you ever have thought that your homeroom teacher is the meanest and worst person ever then you would love him if you have ever been to Mrs. Hussein’s class you would think that your homeroom teacher is the best person ever. Because if you do something that doesn’t go in Mrs.Hussien’s rules list, you will have to stay after classes and do every dirty work she asks you to.
Anyways I had my tasty breakfast and head outside to meet with my friend and later go and buy new earphones with him. We were planning this day since Thursday so the day should have gone smoothly and there should have been nothing interrupting us as it was planned. It was a nice summer morning, birds were singing, kids were laughing and their moms were taking care of them… how cute, I thought.
Everything began at this devil’s moment. I was coming to the half ruined bus stop, when I saw that old lady with six huge wall-mart bags. She looked all the way above eighty-five; she used a scratchy tree stick to walk and it looked like as if she only had a one eye. As you may guess there was no one besides me to help her out with carrying those bags.
“May I help you Misses…?” I asked her what her name was so that I look polite and trustful and gave her a friendly look, so that she understands that I will take her no harm.
“Oh thank you young fellow, it is so nice of you, of course you can! Oh yes, my name, Mrs. Popova” grinned an old lady, so that I could see her black and destroyed old teeth. This was kind of weird.
So I took four of her heaviest bags and we went on walking to her house which was 5 minutes away from the bus stop. Quite far, considering that today is a perfectly planned day and everything should go according to what we have planned.
“By the way my neighbor is a serial killer” an old lady said with widely open smile, so that I could see her teeth again, what was already starting to be annoying. The thing that made me scared the most was the fact that her neighbor was a serial killer… am I mad?
A serial killer? How does that work? I became a little bit confused and even frustrated. Was she just serious or she is just mentally ill? You know not everyone will go around with a tree stick… It might mean something: “A serial killer?” I wondered if I was pretending that being around serial killers is a normal kind of thing.
“Well yeah kind of, I saw him a few times with that big gun; she always sits with that big gun in front of her window and pointing at me… I think he wants to kill me” said the old lady just as she sees someone that wants to kill her every-day.
Well actually someone do wants or plans to kill her almost on any day of her life, as she says, but it is still extra strange that it is someone like me now who is walking with an old mad granny and talking about some paranoiac staff with me, she might be mad I thought over again, she messes up with that guy’s gender. And always talks the way that she is in some kind of hurry, I can’t explain.
We were now getting over her house and I personally really wanted to run back to the bus station, so I needed to make up some kind of stupid excuse so that it is believable and real enough, so that I could leave right on a place and run back to the desirable bus station. It didn’t take long to work out a permanent working excuse!
“Excuse me, I really need to go, my friend is now waiting for me on the bus stop, I am in a big hurry.” Working every time isn’t it so true. Well that I stated my facts that are likely to be strong and got ready to be argued.
“Wouldn’t you join me for a spot of tea young fellow? Save me from her, he is going to kill me today for sure. I am more than sure, my time has come my pretty girl, save me please, I need your help. You were the chosen one” a lady gave a mad cry and felt down on her knees.
I didn’t really want to join a mad old lady for the spot of tea, the only thing I wanted to do was to run back to the station. Don’t forget the fact that she was out of her mind, so it was not only dangerous for such a young mind as mine stay here but also dangerous for my life. I really didn’t want anyone to get injured or what is way worse killed. Or its just all my fantasy no one is actually going to be killed or injured, it is just that crazy mad old lady who creating the mass up.
Here comes plan B, “Yes sure I will join you for a spot of tea.” ok, so now I am going to lead my way to the bus stop, the only question is how I should do it. Now that the only thing that was last is to run away screaming something like “get out of here, it is a mad old granny here. Run people! Run!” .Of course that was a joke. I just put the bags down on a ground while the old lady was opening the door… And here comes the moment, my chance that I would take.
Ok, I put the bags down and moved slowly on my toes and then…
“Where are you going?”
“Not you again.”
In that moment I began to run as fast as I only could, as you may guess I was running to the bus station. The road was pretty muddy what was making me difficulties to run, and also I could get my clothes dirty, so I was kind of half careful and ran on a half of my speed. Anyways I was on the bus stop after two minutes of running, and what was the most important I was away from the mad granny.
I was now standing on the bus stop. I was still waiting for the bus and it looked like the bus was not yet to come, what was already getting a little bit annoying. I looked around and then I looked back. Oh finally, there it was, I could see it approaching out of the horizon, it is finally here, I thought.
By the way, it was already 13:00, considering that I was out of my house at 11:00 I was already getting way too late, and now everything me and my dear friend planned didn’t seem as much possible as It was in the morning, so I decided to call my friend so that I know what to do next. Well I still needed to get in the bus first.
So now I was on the bus on the way to the friend’s house, he lived thirty minutes away from the bus stop. I still had to take the time that is spent on the bus in count, so it was now pretty obvious that we were not going to go shopping with my friend. By the way, it was pretty stuffy in the bus. There were so many people in it that you could hardly ever get through to the far ends of the bus, and they also didn’t have any air conditioners what was making my journey extra hard to relive. So because of the following conditions, I decided to call my friend later on the day, to be exact when I come out of the bus.
Interestingly enough nothing happened while I was on the bus, what was quite incredible considering that I had no luck throughout the whole day. Well let’s say everything went almost perfect, besides the fact that I had to give 5 cents to the old lady that somehow lost her wallet and figured that out only when she had to pay for the bus.
So here I was calling my friend. It was 14:30 so I didn’t really have any hopes to go shopping with him anymore. Plus we got in a big traffic right over his house. This was quite upsetting for me. You know, we planned this day for so long and now our plans were ruined by the old mad lady that I helped.
“Hey man I am near your home, over the bus stop, do you still have some time to meet? Really sorry, I had some problems on the way here. So, what do you say?” I tried to say this as I was in upper mood.
“Man wait, We said it was 13:30 time we meet, your phone was shut down, I couldn’t call you either, I was waiting for you near the store for almost 40 minutes, to be honest don’t really want to go anywhere, like you know what I am talking about, man 40 minutes, it’s a long time.” He didn’t seem like he was in a good mood. So I decided not to argue with him, I knew it was my fault.
“Ok sorry anyway, sorry for making you waiting, my bad. It was my fault”
“Sure” and he lifted the phone.
That was quite rude of him, you know, even though I was late I still kind of tried to keep polite to him and was really sorry, but anyways it is alright. I won’t mind him anymore; I will just go to the music shop and buy things that I need and will go home later. Not the best option and I know it, but I have nothing to do with it, I just deserve it.
I headed to the Music shop which was few minutes away from the bus stop, so I even was a little bit happy, that I wouldn’t spent much time looking for staff I needed and it won’t take me long to go there and go back from the music shop as well. Truly enough, it was not that bad.
Here I was in the store, everything was almost simple. I had to go to the department where they sell earphones and other staff that is used for listening music and chose the model I want. Well nothing extra hard, here I am picking my new earphones; I wanted to buy “Shure” that cost 100$ and 5 cents. I just personally hate such a prize and not because it was too expensive, no. It is because there were those 5 cents on the end. To whom would it matter that much, I mean for customer. If you want more money ask for 10 bucks but not for 5 cents.
I was now at the cashier:
“100$ and 5 cents” she faked a smile
“Yes sure here it is” I give her hundred bucks.
“5 more cents please”
“Oh yeah here they are…” at this moment I coming to realization that I don’t really have those stinky 5 cents, I search over and over, again and again. I was just almost about to cry I would agree to walk back home by foot but not leave this place without those earphones.
I looked at this fake smiley woman and said those words “I don’t have them.”
“Oh dear, would you like me to borrow you them? Just get out of here till I don’t call the guard and let him do it for me” screamed the lady. How annoying I thought.
Well you can easily guess in what kind of mood I was and what happened next. So that’s why I am not going to tell you about it. Well even though the day was horrible, I try to keep positive. Otherwise there were no such a story to tell.
